Bangladesh Cricket Board requests security consultant for Pakistan tour
Bangladesh will travel to Pakistan for the forthcoming Test series on 17th August, the 2-match Test series will be a part of the ICC Championship at Rawalpindi from 21st to 25th August and in Karachi from 30th August to 3 September.
As Bangladesh and Pakistan had faced political issues back in time and even fought wars, Travelling to Pakistan is always been a matter of concern for the team due to its political conditions. Keeping in mind the security of players, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has requested the government to provide security to the players as they travel to Pakistan.
“Look providing safety is up to them (Pakistan) and we go there because they assure us to provide state-level security and after they assured us about it, the tour was fixed,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters on Wednesday.
Bangladesh agreed to the tour to Pakistan after the government of Pakistan assured them of proper security measures. “We are also very much concerned about the security but after knowing everything and after getting assurance from them regarding the security we have fixed the tour,” he said.
At the same the Bangladesh has requested some additional measures.
BCB has asked the government for a security consultant who will accompany the team and maintain communications with Pakistani officials regarding security measures.
Jalal further mentioned about the consent of the players. He said that no player has any objections to the forthcoming tour of Pakistan. The team is ready and well-prepared for the series.
Before the Test series against Pakistan, Bangladesh team A will travel to Islamabad for two four-day games and three 50-over matches. These matches will be played and will prepare the teams for the main series.
Key Test Players like Mushfiqur Rahim and Monimul Haque will participate in the opening four-day game as part of their preparation.
