Teams in the Duleep Trophy 2024 are to be led by Shubhman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shreyas Iyer.

The Duleep Trophy is a first-class domestic competition played in India, the next season of which is set to begin on 5th September 2024. In the upcoming session of the Duleep Trophy, several top-tier players will participate with four teams to be led by Shubhman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, and Abhimanyu Easwaran. 

The majority of the players from India’s senior squads have been picked to play in the tournament’s first round except Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya. 

Teams  & Captains

There will be a total of four teams in the tournament namely Team A, Team B, Team C, Team D

Team A will be led by Shubhman Gill which includes players like KL Rahul, Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav etc.

Team B will be captained by Abhimanyu Easwaran and the team will feature players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rishabh Pant. Allrounder Nitish Reddy is a part of the squad as well but his participation is subject to fitness.

Team C will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad and the players selected in the squad are Suryakumar Yadav, Rajat Patidar, Sai Sudarshan, and Umran Malik.

Team D will be captained by Shreyas Iyer, players included in the team are Axar Patel, Ishan Kishan, and Devdutt Padikkal. Ishan Kishan returns to action and is picked in Team D, led by Iyer. 

The BCCI has also confirmed that the players picked to represent India in the home Test series against Bangladesh will be replaced in the Duleep Trophy squads. The tournament is set to get underway from September 5. Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur and the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru have been chosen as the hosts. The first-class tournament will conclude on September 22.

Missing Players: 

Senior players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya are not participating. R Ashwin has not been selected for the tournament and Mohammad Shami is still recovering from injury.
