Faruque Ahmed to become the new President of BCB
Nazuml Hasan resigned, and Faruque Ahmed became the new BCB President
Faruque Ahmed, former national cricketer and chief selector has been appointed as the new Chairman and has replaced Nazuml Hasan as the board president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
This news was confirmed by The BCB’s umpires committee chairman Iftekhar Ahmed on Wednesday. The BCB is currently having a board meeting in the Ministry of Youth and Sports wherein the former president resigned while Ahmed was elected.
Nazmul Hasan, who was currently serving his fourth term as BCB President, and chief of the country’s cricket governing body, has been in hiding with his wife in London ever since the unrest in the country began, triggered by the student protests against the recent dissolved Sheikh Hasina government.
Ahmed Faruque has a history with the BCB, having served as chief selector for two separate terms: from 2003 to 2007 and from 2013 to 2016.
He had resigned without completing his second term as chief selector. This was because he was not ready to accept the expansion of the three-member selection panel.
