India Is In The Semifinals of The Women’s  Asia Cup

India stepped into the semifinals of the Women’s Asia Cup, the team has secured the position with a perfect win record. India won all the league matches, including the exclusive 82-run victory over Nepal on Tuesday 23rd July 2024. India is in Group A in the Women’s Asia Cup hosted by Sri Lanka in Dambulla.

Along with India, Pakistan has also reached the semifinals after defeating the UAE. Two of the semifinal spots are filled by India and Pakistan, two more spots are remaining. Members of Group B can acquire the position based on their wins.

India’s Performance Against Nepal:

Batting

Shefali Verma is India’s top batter, she led the batting performance well and scored 81 runs in 48 balls sharing a partnership of  122 runs with Dayalan Hemlata who hit 47 runs in 42 balls. Although India lost some early wickets, the team managed to set the target high at 178 runs which was too much for Nepal. Jemimah quickly added 28 runs which boosted the team score. 

Bowling

India’s bowling pace is very dominating, Deepti Sharma took 3 wickets for 13 runs and Radha Yadav took 2 wickets for 12 runs. Renuka Singh and Aradhya Reddy quickly took control after taking early wickets. 

Nepal’s Performace Against India:

Batting

Nepal failed to start with a strong batting performance with an in-form opener Samjhana Khadka falling early. The team struggled hard, and skipper Indu Barma provided some resistance, all-rounder Sita Rana Magar also tried to save but failed. Nepal couldn’t keep up with the required run rate as the team lost wickets one after the other and only managed to score 96 in 20 overs. 

Bowling

Nepal‘s bowing part was still better than its batting lineup. They did their best the resist India; Sita Rana Magar took 2 wickets for 25 runs and tried to resist but India’s score was too high for them to chase. 

Conclusion

This loss resulted in a wrap-up for Nepal, they were eliminated from the tournament after losing 2 matches one from Pakistan and another from India. Nepal won its first match against UAE but is now out of the game.

On the other hand, India has secured its position in the semifinals with a 100 percent win record.
