Sri Lanka Lost Another Player for T20 as Thurshara got injured

Thurshara was ruled out of the T20I series against India

Sri Lanka’s Twenty20 International team has faced another setback as Nuwan Thushara- Sri Lanka’s fast bowler- was injured during the practice session. Due to this, the player has been ruled out of the T20 series against India.

Thushara hit his left thumb during the practice session. This last-minute injury has cost him the loss of chance to play an important series. Meanwhile, it’s not just Thurshara who is going to bear the loss but the whole team will pay for it as Thushara is the second fast bowler to be ruled out in two days after Dushmantha Chameer also departed from the team.

Thushsara’s gameplay

The fast bowler has gained attention for his unique slingy bowling action during the SA20 tournament, playing for MI Cape Town, where he took eight wickets in five games. His bowling action is slingy where his arm has a low, side-arm motion, resembling the action of sling. With this action, he generates a lot of pace and awkward angles making it difficult for the batsman to read and play the ball.

In the recent series against Bangladesh, the player played very well with a maiden over hat-trick and gained his best career figures of 5 for 20.

Thushara also participated in the Lanka Premier League and came out as an impact player with eight wickets in seven games for the Dambulla Sixers.

The player is expected to be replaced by Dilshan Madhushanka who is another important bowler. Madhushanka also played for the Dambulla Sixers in the LPL but unluckily only managed to take 2 wickets in 6 matches. He also missed this year’s IPL season due to injury and did not participate in the recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The India vs Sri Lanka series is going to start from tomorrow, 27th July. Sri Lanka and India are scheduled to play three T20I matches and three ODI matches. T20 will start from tomorrow and later ODI will start in 1st week of August.
