Gautam Gambir on the relations with Virat- will make India proud

Gambhir’s Statement on Working with Kohli- We Both Will be Working Very Hard to Make India Proud

Gautam Gambhir has given a clear statement regarding his relations with Virat Kohli. They had a heated moment during a match in the IPL. Since then their relations have been a matter of gossip and rumours. The topic has been raised again since Gautam Gambir was appointed as the head coach of Team India.

However, the coach has given a clear statement of their relationship. Gambhir said, “There are no issues between him and Virat Kohli and they have had conversations since he became the coach of the Indian Cricket Team.

He also explained his past confrontation with the player that was captured in the camera. On this, he said- it was a result of the competitive nature of the sport, as every player wants to return to his dressing room as a winner. “I share a good relationship with Virat,” he quipped.

Gambhir emphasized that they share a good relationship off-field and that their interactions are private.

He strove to explain the point stating that those incidents will have no bearing on their equation while representing the country. “On the field, everyone has the right to fight for their jersey and come back to a winning dressing room. But at the moment, we’re representing India, representing 140 crore Indians and I’m sure we’re going to be on the same page and try to make India proud. I share a very good relationship off the field and will continue to do that. But yes, to make it more public what kind of a relationship… I think it’s between two individuals.”

He praised the fellow player and said  “He’s a thorough professional, a world-class athlete, and a world-class player. I’ve always said that. I’ve got huge respect for him as a player and it’s going to continue. And hopefully, we can work together really well.”

With Rohit and Virat now not playing T20 cricket, they only have two formats to look after. So they are going to be available for most of the games. For Bumrah, because he is one rare kind of bowler who anyone would want, so it’s our responsibility to try and have him fresh for most of the important games. So workload management for not just Bumrah but fast bowlers becomes very very important.

Gambhir also confirmed that his support staff included Abhishek Nayar, and Ryan ten Doeschate as assistant coaches, T Dilip as fielding coach, and Sairaj Bahutule as bowling coach for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.
